How Do I Find My Car Tyre Size?
Look for a marking such as 205/55R16 91V on the tyre sidewall. Here is how to read the tyre size, construction, load index and speed rating:
- 205
- Tyre width in millimetres.
- 55
- Sidewall height as a percentage of tyre width.
- R16
- Radial construction for a 16-inch wheel.
- 91
- Load index: up to 615 kg per tyre at the specified pressure.
- V
- Speed rating: rated up to 149 mph (240 km/h).
The correct tyre also needs suitable load and speed ratings, with XL, run-flat or manufacturer approval markings where applicable. Some cars use different front and rear tyre sizes. Check the vehicle specification as well as the tyres currently fitted, or ask our team to help before ordering. You can also find the recommended sizes and pressures on a sticker inside the driver's door shut or fuel filler flap, or in your vehicle handbook.

No. The ★ identifies BMW approval; it does not by itself confirm run-flat construction. We check run-flat identification separately from manufacturer approval when advising on replacements.
