Are all alloy wheel nuts and bolts the same?
No. Wheel nuts and bolts vary by thread size, thread pitch, seat profile, length, hex size and vehicle application. The correct fitting also depends on whether the wheel is original equipment or aftermarket.
How do I know which wheel nuts or bolts I need?
The easiest option is to bring the vehicle, wheel or an original fixing into LTC. You can also send us clear photos of the alloy wheel and existing nut or bolt together with your vehicle registration or make and model.
Can aftermarket alloy wheels need different wheel bolts?
Yes. Aftermarket alloy wheels can require a different seat profile, bolt length, nut design or spigot ring compared with the vehicle's original wheels. Original fittings should not automatically be assumed to be suitable.
What is the difference between tapered and radius wheel bolts?
A tapered or cone-seat fixing has an angled seating surface, while a radius or ball-seat fixing has a rounded seating surface. The seating profile needs to match the wheel correctly.
