LTC Tyres are Porsche Centre Lock Wheel Specialists.
We have the experience you can trust to fit your centre lock wheels correctly and safely to your Porsche.
What is the Porsche Centre Lock Wheel Nut Torque Setting?
The torque specification for a Porsche centre lock wheel nut is generally around 443 ft-lbs (approximately 600 Nm). Due to the high torque required to secure them properly, it is essential to use a specialised torque wrench designed explicitly for centre lock wheels. Refer to your specific Porsche model's service manual for torque specifications.
Key points to remember:
- High torque: Centre lock nuts require significantly more than standard lug nuts.
- Specialized tool: Use a dedicated Porsche centre lock torque wrench for accurate tightening.
- Torque sequence: It is recommended to follow a specific tightening sequence, which includes an initial tightening, slightly backing off, and then fully tightening again to ensure proper seating.
Porsche 911 Tyres -
The rear-mounted flat-6 engine and the increased camber, especially at the rear axle, necessitate an asymmetric tyre structure. This means that the outer and inner shoulders have different measurements to ensure optimal tread contact, which enhances the transfer of power to the ground.
- The high-rigidity compounds incorporate nanocomposites. This greater chemical uniformity helps limit deformation, thereby improving precision during corner entry.
The Turbo versions' compound is softer than that of the standard P Zero™, but this is balanced by a fuller tread design and a stiffer structure.
Porsche Pirelli Tyres History
The Stuttgart-based manufacturer began producing cars in 1948 with the 356, a compact sports coupé derived from the iconic Volkswagen Beetle, which Ferdinand Porsche also designed. This vehicle featured a unique "all at the back" design, with rear-wheel drive and an engine with opposed cylinders extending over the rear axle. This design marked the start of Porsche's distinctive technical direction.
With the launch of the 911 in the mid-1960s, the increase in power became unstoppable, leading to a growing demand for tyres capable of transferring that power to the ground. These tyres needed to ensure that even the most aggressive and powerful Porsche models remained stable on the road. As always, Pirelli has provided Porsche owners with tires that prioritize both safety on the road and performance on the track.
